daughter of the King

Christmas is a beautiful season in which we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus. But, it can also be a season of hustle-bustle, change, increased activity, stress, and worry.

When you get frazzled, tired, feel unsure, unworthy, unaccepted, unloved or just done;square your shoulders, straighten your crown and remember whose daughter you are.

You are a princess, daughter of a perfect King.

The truth is I am my Father’s child

I make Him proud, and I make Him smile

I was made in the image of a perfect King

He looks at me and wouldn’t change a thing

The truth is I am truly loved

By a God who’s good when I’m not good enough

I don’t belong to the lies, I belong to You?

And that’s the truth.

Being thankful ISN’T what you think…

Thank you is a two-word phrase that speaks to one’s gratitude usually FOR something, or BECAUSE of something. It’s a REACTION to kindness. Kids are taught to say thank you at a very young age to anyone who has done something nice for them: Given them a toy, helped them with a project, fed them, etc. As we age, we understand that the words ‘thank you’ often are not enough to express our sincerest appreciation. We mature into using more than our words to verbalize our gratefulness. It’s in this move from words to actions that we begin to understand what being thankful is all about.

You see, being thankful isn’t what you think…

It’s not just an expression.

It’s not just in actions.

It’s not just a REACTION.

Being thankful is a lifestyle.

It’s how you live.

It is your ACTION.

Gratitude is how you worship, how you value others and treat your possessions.

Thankfulness is living in appreciation for EVERYTHING!

For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving… 1 Timothy 4:4

T.H.I.N.K. then A.C.T.

“To criticize is easier than to contribute”

What do you think?
What’s your first “go to” response?
Do you have a comment for everything?
OR
Do you consider the situation, and try to T.H.I.N.K. then A.C.T.?
T.H.I.N.K: T.ruthful, H.elpful, I.nspirational, N.ecessary AND K.ind? ONLY speak if all of these are acting together!
A.C.T.: A.pply C.hrist’s T.actics
Do what Jesus would do, act as if He was right there with you!

Love must be sincere.
Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.
Be devoted to one another in love.
Honor one another above yourselves—Romans 12:9-10
Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth—1 John 3:18

Have you ever had to hire a lawyer?

People hire lawyers because they need help with a matter that has gone beyond what they can do for themselves. Sometimes it’s for advice, or counsel, sometimes it’s to take the matter farther for a good resolve. Other times it’s because the matter needs an end, and a lawyer is the only one who can help get them to that point.

Not every lawyer or counselor is good for every situation.

For example, you wouldn’t hire a civil rights attorney if you had a land dispute, or a counselor who specializes in adoptions for a case involving business patents.

When seeking counsel, people usually go to someone who knows about the situation, has experience with the matter and has a reputation of “winning” cases as well.

Wouldn’t it be awesome if there was One Counselor Who would give perfect advice; Who could solve, resolve, and restore; Who knew each situation we went through SO intimately that all we would have to do is acknowledge Him… we wouldn’t even need to explain the reason we need Him because somehow, He would already know everything without one word from us?

NOW that’s a counselor I would keep on retainer FOREVER!

Here’s the INCREDIBLE news: You have access to this Counselor AND you need no retainer to keep Him! Matter of fact, He willingly paid the “retainer” in order for you to have Him as yours, FOREVER! (See Romans 5:6-10.)

Jesus says, “I will ask the Father to give you a Counselor to be with you forever—The Spirit of truth.” (John 14:16) How cool is that?! If we are a follower of Jesus (go back and read John 14:15), we have the Perfect Counselor (not observer, not debater, not judge, not jury, but Counselor—the One Who knows you perfectly, Who can counsel you on ALL matters, Who helps, saves, rescues, and restores. Unreal!).

Do you need counsel?

Do you need advice?

Do you need a good resolve for a troubling issue?

Do you need help getting to the end of a problem?

Do you need help with a matter that is beyond what you can do for yourself?

Acknowledge the Counselor…

John 14:26 The Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to You.

Romans 8:26 … the Spirit helps us in our weakness.

Romans 8:27 … the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

We have a PERFECT Counselor! Trust Him to see you through anything this world may choose to throw your way!

Acknowledge Him… He WILL direct your way (Proverbs 3:6)

Handwritten Heart

Did you know that your heart is “writable”?

So, what’s written on your heart?

Even more important, how does your heart get written upon?

AND, who do you let write upon your heart?

I think as Christians, we’ve been brought up to believe that in order to be humble, patient, kind and gentle, we have to let everyone, anyone say whatever they want to us and we have to listen to them because it’s the “right” thing to do…we wouldn’t want someone to think we are rude. The problem is this: When we listen to the same message, whether positive or negative, enough times it begins to carve itself onto our heart. So we believe what is said to us. If we let the world write on our heart, the messages are not trustworthy… they may be good, they may even have truth built into them, and they may be right sometimes. But they are not 100% trustworthy. The only writer Who is completely trustworthy, always right, always good, always pure, always loving is God.

God wants to write upon your heart.

Is there enough room on your “ticker” for Him to write His love song to you?

If you have a moment take a look at what God wants to write on your heart…

I have loved you with an everlasting love… Jeremiah 31:3

Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior… Isaiah 43:1-3

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of My hand. John 10:28

The LORD your God is with you, He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17

Don’t let the world write their version of love and truth on your heart.

Allow God to write on your heart, He loves you more than anyone on earth ever could!
