Mercies

So much is going on in our world today:  Economic uncertainty, political unrest, natural disasters, pandemic, limited vaccinations, job insecurity, and on and on.

We all could get very depressed if these things were our only focus.

Praise God, believers in Jesus Christ, have a future and a hope!  God is on the throne and He is in complete control of everything!!

Instead of focusing on the things happening around us, focus on God’s grace, mercy, and faithfulness – which are new every morning!!  Great is His faithfulness!!

Lamentations 3:21-26:

    But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope:

    The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    His mercies never come to an end;

    they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
     “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in Him.”

     The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.
    It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord.

Faithfulness

I love the change of seasons.  It is always fun to watch for the signs that the new season is on its way!!

This past week I have heard geese flying north, birds singing, robins hopping across lawns listening for worms, (yes, they really can hear them), birds cleaning out their nests, yards covered in crocuses, daffodils blooming, the winds of March, and the warm rays of the sun…all telling me that spring has once again arrived!!

All of these things remind me of God’s promise that He made to Noah so long ago:  “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”  Genesis 8:22

Praise God that He is faithful to His promises!!

Light

What are some of the benefits we receive from light?

Here are a few that came to my mind:  Light…

* enables me to see clearly,

* helps me see where I am going,

* provides warmth,

* helps things to grow,

* shows the dirt,

* helps me understand the world around me…

Philippians 2:14-16,  Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.

God, through Paul, reminds believers in Jesus Christ that we are lights shining in the midst of a “crooked and twisted generation”.  As you witness the unrest, bitterness, hatred, and immorality of the world around us, are you living in such a way that your life shines God’s purity and holiness and exposes sin for what it is?

Shine God’s light today!!

What does your day look like?

Are you running errands?

Are you sitting at your desk at work?

Or sitting at your desk at home—working?

Are you at school?  Or on Zoom at home doing schoolwork?

Are you taking care of the toddlers who are running around your house?

Are you out walking or jogging?

STOP!  BREATHE!  Remember this important truth…

“The LORD directs the steps of the godly.  He delights in every detail of their lives.”  Psalm 37:23

No matter what your day looks like, your steps are ordered by the Master of the Universe—GOD HIMSELF—and HE DELIGHTS in every DETAIL of YOUR life.

WOW!  So, when you look at your day through the eyes of God—what does your day look like now?

He’s got the details!

Life

“I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10b

Life—go ahead, take a deep breath.  Breathe in that oxygen that keeps you supplied with life.  Today our lives are threatened with many physical limitations that cause us to worry about what will happen tomorrow.

Jesus walked on this earth and told the people He met that He did not come to condemn mankind but rather to give life and an abundance of that life.

Earlier in the book of John, we read in chapter 3, verse 16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

See, Jesus is all about life.  He came to give us abundant life that is eternal.  When we believe on Jesus and His plan for us, then we WILL have real, true life.  In fact, in John 14:6, Jesus says, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me.”

The question is, do you know Jesus personally?  Have you received the only one who will give you abundant, eternal life that will bring you to the Father in Heaven?  Don’t wait.  Look for Him today!
